Job Summary:
Grayhawk structural is seeking a Part-time Structural Design Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate will provide support to the organization by executing engineering design principals to create comprehensive construction documents including framing plans, shear wall plans, foundation plans, details, and other documentation as needed.
This role will report directly to the owner.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Actively maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with Structural Engineers, Drafters, Architects, Designers, and construction partners
- Maintain high proficiency in AutoCAD with specific experience in single and multifamily residential projects
- Interprets and incorporates architectural plans
- Create and utilize standard notes and details for use in construction documents
- Reliably work to meet schedule, budget and quality expectations/requirements
- A strong focus on quality, ensuring conformance with established structural standards, project standards, and project delivery processes
- Advance and develop standard drawings, details and processes
Job Functions:
- Use software including Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, RAM, etc. to perform structural calculations based on project requirements
- Ability to efficiently operate AutoCAD to produce construction documents in a timely manner
- Communicates to obtain required information from, and coordinate with team members.
- Transforms initial engineering schematic design by utilizing AutoCAD to produce working documents
- Close attention to details and knows when to check-in or ask for assistance.
- Organized time management skills and ability to prepare and maintain project schedules. Ability to balance long-term assignments with day-to-day project correspondence and coordination
- Tracks time and regularly reports status and progress on a daily and weekly basis
- Capable of tracking financial aspects of projects including tracking and management of internal budgets
- Proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools in an effort to increase automation
- Maintains and regularly updates Operations Manual with regard to drafting process and standards
- Other tasks necessary to advance company objectives
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years related experience (potential Level 2 experience)
- Certification in PE is a plus, but not required.
- EIT a plus, but not required.
- Highly organized, disciplined, driven and energetic
- Proactive & strong communication skills

- Discrete and trustworthy with sensitive firm and client information

- After hours/weekend work may occasionally be required to address deadlines
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Benefits:
- Part time role, 20-30 hours per week
- Compensation: $30-45 / hour
