Position Overview/Description:
The Environmental Scientist will investigate and analyze environmental problems, develop solutions, and advise on environmental policy and regulations. The Environmental Scientist oversee the deployment and universal adoption of the WASTELINQ software program and provide field support for Environmental Emergencies, including field sampling.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Operations, Waste Services, and Sales teams and model GrayMar values.
- Ensure each employee is prepared and educated in safe work practices.
- Develop, coach, train, and promote employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation, including performance goals.
- Develop and implement waste strategies, policies, and initiatives to achieve business goals.
- Participate in high level industry events, customer meetings, and regulatory agency discussions.
- Assist in companywide implementation and universal adoption of the WASTELINQ enterprise software program.
- Assist in development and oversight of companywide waste management programs.
- Assist with ESG requirements and goals.
- Provide technical support on operational activities to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct both internal and external audits to ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Work closely with clients to identify the total waste solution and act as project engineer when applicable.
- Make Environmental Program recommendations and proposals for clients.
- Assist with field operations including job walks, proposals, waste characterization, waste inventories, and field sampling.
- Provide companywide training and assist with manifesting, profiling, and waste disposal activities.
- Provide support for Emergency Responses and conduct field sampling as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of WASTELINQ enterprise software program.
- Proven track record of strong research, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, including the ability to communicate complex topics across the organization.
- Computer proficiency, including data entry and report pulling for Environmental Compliance and Regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with US Environmental Compliance and Regulatory policies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. Years of work equivalent experience are also accepted.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Environmental Science or a related field.
