Position Overview/Description:
The Safety Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety training programs for all employees. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and fosters a strong safety culture within the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the field teams and model GrayMar values.
- Ensure each employee is prepared and educated in safe work practices.
- Develop, coach, train, and promote employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation, including performance goals.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify safety training gaps and develop appropriate programs.
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging and effective safety training programs, including online modules, classroom sessions, and hands-on demonstrations. Cover topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space entry, and other relevant areas.
- Stay up to date on all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and ensure training programs meet these requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions, utilizing a variety of methods to maximize knowledge transfer and retention.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for all employees, including training dates, topics covered, and assessment results.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Track and document key metrics related to safety performance.
- Promote a positive safety culture by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives and awareness campaigns.
- Work closely with other departments to identify and address safety training needs.
- Manage the safety training budget effectively.
- May oversee relationships with external training providers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other training software.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, or a related field preferred. Equivalent years of work experience accepted.
- At least 5 years of experience in safety training and program development.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)] preferred.
