• Ensure the security and maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and detained youth
• Assume responsibility for supervising daily detention activities and movement of all youth housed within the facility
• Maintain written records of youths' daily activities on all assigned shifts
• Operate and monitor security equipment within the detention control center and maintain control room daily log
• Interact with youth on a one-to-one basis or through group activities
• Administer, prepare, and supervise meals on assigned shifts
• Perform clean-up activities of the detention population as necessary
• Ensure the appropriate release of youth from the facility
• Respond to inquiries within the scope of knowledge
• Liaise between youth and shift supervisors
• Perform or assist full-time shift employees in any daily process as instructed
