Overview
The Second Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting the Director in developing, implementing, and managing emergency preparedness and response programs.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree OR three years administrative, project management, legal, public safety or grant management experience.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must successfully complete NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800 within 3 months of date of hire.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director in developing and implementing comprehensive emergency management plans and programs.
- Assist the Director in coordinating training sessions and drills to prepare staff and volunteers for emergency situations.
- Assist the Director in managing budgets related to emergency management initiatives, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Assist the Director in overseeing volunteer management, including recruitment, training, and deployment during emergencies.
- Assistant the Director in preparing grant proposals to secure funding for emergency management projects and initiatives as well as implementation and reporting upon receipt of grant.
- Assist in administration of countywide Safe Room Rebate Program which will require ability to travel throughout the county to inspect below and above ground installations.
Skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Some budget experience.
- Strong customer service skills in dealing with officials and our taxpaying public in connection with various initiatives.
Classification of Employee and Schedule
This employee is classified as non-exempt. This means that the employee will be compensated or given time off (as County policy provides) for hours (if any) worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
Position is subject to emergency call back.
This position is given latitude working with the Director to create their own, flexible, schedule. This flexibility is designed to benefit the employee and Grayson County in accomplishing the work.
This position requires a proactive individual who is passionate about enhancing community safety through effective emergency management strategies.
