JOB DESCRIPTION
- Perform needed preventative maintenance on operating equipment in order to maintain a high level of production in the most safe and efficient method possible.
- Utilize preventative maintenance tools and techniques to prevent potential equipment breakdown.
- Suggest equipment changes or revisions to eliminate or reduce unscheduled equipment downtime.
- If manufacturing equipment breaks down and needs repair, responsible for responding to any line calls immediately (with needed tools, etc.) to troubleshoot the problem(s) and take the necessary action to make repairs and/or replace parts in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must read and interpret technical manuals and prints for maintaining and troubleshooting of all plant equipment.
- Once any repair has been made, expected to make sure equipment is running properly and performing the correct functions before leaving the job. If needed, this responsibility will be passed on to the next shift in order to assure that the work done by maintenance has resulted in an operational piece of equipment. Following the downtime event, the GMM and Production staff must analyze the event to identify and implement corrective action.
- Must comply with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures including use of all required PPE.
- Participates in training courses on new and existing equipment or maintenance methods as required.
- Completes reports as required, keeps accurate logs, requisitions materials, accounts for materials, supplies and time spent on specific assignments.
- Must wear prescribed safety equipment.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Two year technical degree and other specialized technical training or equivalent experience is desirable.
- 3 years constructing, troubleshooting and affecting necessary repair or adjustments, of mechanical, electrical pneumatic and hydraulic equipment throughout the plant as related to the following areas of qualification: welding, machining, millwrighting, pipefitting, instrumentation, electrical work, carpentry, mason work, and material handling equipment.
- 3 years operating machines and hand tools in a maintenance shop and/or plant.
- Competent in use of fire fighting and spill control equipment.
- Working knowledge of emergency and spill control.
- Thorough knowledge of process requirements and production operation as well as a working knowledge of variable speed drives, PLC’s systems.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and production people.
