What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Vegetation Management - Pensacola position at GRDA?
Position Overview
This position is responsible for vegetation management, and other supervised maintenance tasks at the Hydro Plant locations.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Operates side trimmers, skid steers, 4-wheel drive tractors with brush hog, chain saws and other tools and equipment to cut and trim trees, brush and other vegetation, mows dikes and dams; works in locations with difficult accessibility such as fence rows, creek banks or densely populated or wooded areas.
- Right of way restoration responsibilities such as: repairing ruts, reclaiming property damages, reseeding, fence building, gate installation, etc.
- Mowing and herbicide application on Hydro plant locations.
- Coordinate with other crafts on logistics and assigned projects.
- Secure equipment and materials needed to complete a project and check it out through the warehouse using the correct project codes.
- Help to make sure all projects’ tasks are performed in the safest manner in accordance with GRDA, APPA and other governing bodies’ rules and regulations.
- In the event of high water, assist Hydro staff with any dam safety related tasks.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
- Applicants must be willing to travel for overnight stay to perform necessary tasks, on occasion, as needed.
- Must be able to take direction and work as part of a team.
- Must have a desire and ability to work safely.
Education, Training, Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent (or in progress), vocational/trade school a plus.
- Prior vegetation management experience a plus.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 90 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Required to bend, stoop, perform above shoulder work and work with arms extended.
- Must be able to lift, move and carry weights of 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be capable of working in all weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, extreme heat, mud, rivers, lake shore, etc.
Other information:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Work is performed primarily at the Pensacola Dam, Langley, Oklahoma with occasional travel to other GRDA facilities as needed.
- Mon – Thurs 6:00am – 4:30pm
