Director of Sterile Processing & Central Services (CSPT/CRCST)
A leading healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Director to oversee our comprehensive Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Position Overview
As the Director of Sterile Processing, you will lead a team of 20-30 professionals while ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining quality standards, and fostering interdepartmental relationships. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational management in sterile processing and central services.
Essential Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of sterile processing operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices
- Lead and develop a high-performing team through mentorship, training, and performance management
- Implement and maintain quality assurance programs and infection prevention protocols
- Manage departmental budget and capital equipment planning
- Collaborate with surgical services and other departments to optimize workflow and patient care
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, AAMI, and other regulatory standards
- Develop and implement evidence-based policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field
- Current CSPT or CRCST certification
- Minimum 5 years of director-level experience in sterile processing within an acute care hospital setting
- Proven track record of managing large teams (20 FTEs)
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and sterilization standards
- BCLS certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
