Summary
Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is a family owned and operated Christian Preschool in Alexandria, Virginia. We are seeking compassionate educators to join our team.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching plan based on the A Beka Book curriculum and supplemental materials; coordinating and implementing the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Lead teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental needs and levels in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
The Lead Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children, parents, and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants and aides, and resolve parental concerns. The Lead Teacher must update BrightWheel with all classroom activities, care, and engagements as well as any specific aspects of child related concerns.
The Lead Teacher is responsible for meeting with parents, completing child developmental evaluations, and safe child educational environments where children are encouraged to learn, play, and grow.
Lead Teachers must be aware of and follow all center policies, procedures, and State Lincening Standards, laws and regulations.
Duties
- Develop, coordinate, and implement educational curricula by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain daily communications with parents through the BrightWheel app, informal discussions, developmental progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure all center policies and Virginia State Licensing Standards, and Department of Education regulations are met.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene, and cleanliness standards, safety, and ratios of children.
- Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards, according to center policies and State Licensing Laws regarding the operation of a licensed child day center.
- Maintaining accurate records, form documentation, and BrightWheel.
- Continued personal and professional development for continuous quality improvement.
