SUMMARY
The Logistics Manager will supervise logistics operations, ensuring the seamless movement of goods and services. This role involves managing key functions such as Shipping & Receiving, Purchasing, Production Scheduling, and Inventory Management by leading a small team. The Logistics Manager will be accountable for maintaining efficient logistics processes, optimizing operational performance, and ensuring adherence to industry standards. Additionally, they will be responsible for ensuring on-time deliveries, inventory accuracy, efficient inventory turnover, and the smooth functioning of the ERP system.
RESPONISBILITIES
Shipping & Receiving
· Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-efficient delivery of goods.
· Oversee the relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers to ensure competitive pricing, service levels, and timely deliveries.
· Ensure inventory records are accurately updated and resolve any discrepancies quickly in collaboration with the team.
Purchasing
· Manage purchasing activities to ensure stock levels are optimized and suppliers are delivering in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Work closely with vendors to negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing for materials and products.
· Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies to mitigate risk and control costs.
· Ensure effective buying strategies are utilized to efficiently manage inventory and cash flow.
Production Scheduling
· Collaborate with the production team to develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts.
· Coordinate production flow and inventory management to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
· Ensure inter-departmental communication is kept up to date on production scheduling.
· Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address delays or disruptions.
· Ensure accuracy of job orders when releasing jobs into the manufacturing plant.
Inventory Management
· Oversee the tracking of inventory levels, conducting regular audits, and ensuring inventory accuracy.
· Oversee the implementation of inventory control processes to ensure the right amount of stock is available without excessive surplus.
· Analyze inventory data and collaborate with the team to develop strategies for inventory optimization and cost reduction.
· Audit job orders to ensure they do not create inventory discrepancies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of logistics processes, including shipping, receiving, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- 5 years of experience with Made2Manage ERP Systems.
- Positive ability to manage change effectively, leading and supporting teams through organizational transitions while ensuring smooth adaptation and minimal disruption.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10 years of experience in logistics, with experience in production scheduling and management.
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to optimize logistics operations.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
