Position: Host at Great Big Game Show
$18-$18.25 (depending on experience)
Position Description: Hosts at Great Big Game Show will lead our guests, also called contestants, through a thrilling 60 minute game experience where guests divide into two teams and compete against each other in a series of mini-games to earn points and prevail against the opposing team.
The Role
The host is the ambassador of the Great Big Game Show experience. In each Game Show, contestants play between 8-10 mini-games over the course of an hour. Each game has opportunities to earn points that contribute to the overall score. Each show consists of a mix of physical, trivia, luck, and skill games, giving players of all types an opportunity to shine. Hosts will introduce each game, add fun commentary, track points, and ultimately award a winner.
This role will also perform front desk functions as needed such as greeting guests, handling cash, booking reservations, etc.
How Hosts Serve Our Guests and Our Team:
- Creating a memorable, fun game experience for groups of 2-14 contestants
- Making meaningful connections with our guests
- Enthusiastically explaining the rules of each game
- Using GBGS software to monitor points and team progress
- Demonstrating operational excellence by: Ensuring game components function properly
- Cleaning games and the buildingRestocking inventoryCompleting necessary reports
- Immediately and graciously resolving service failures
Job Requirements:
- Flexible availability. This role often works nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Must be able to handle physical activity as it relates to the job such as standing and speaking for the duration of your shift, painting, standing, crawling, bending, lifting 30-40 lbs and minor game repairs.
- Ability to improvise fun, appropriate commentary to suit guests of all ages.
- Quickly resetting game components within specific time frames outlined in training.

Outgoing
The perfect Great Big Game Show host is a natural in the spotlight. Striking up a conversation with a contestant is easy.
Fun
The host should have a great sense of humor. During a show, a host can add their own humor into transitions and reactions to contestant actions. The host should NEVER make fun of a contestant.
Kind
Hosts are kind, thoughtful, and helpful to the contestants. Your role is to make their experience the best it can be. If a contestant needs extra clarification on a game, take the extra time to give it to them. Patience is key with all groups.
Empathetic
The host should be able to read the room and adjust accordingly. This can turn a lower energy game into a great game! Be aware of player energy and frustrations. Use the levers available in adjusting the gameplay to better serve the contestants’ moods and vibes.
