Great Days Early Education Center Preschool and Childcare Executive Director
Great Days Early Education Center has been a non-profit child care center serving Cottage Grove Oregon since 1975 and is currently the only full-time preschool serving the area. We are run by a board of directors consisting of community members and caregivers. The mission of Great Days is to provide a safe, secure, nurturing childcare center. We provide a developmentally appropriate early childhood education that is affordable and flexible to Cottage Grove area families. We serve children from 2.5-5 years in the preschool and also care for Elementary school-aged children in our after school program.
Our ideal Executive Director is passionate about preparing children physically, mentally, and psychologically for school. They will model a standard of ethical and compassionate behavior establishing a culture of respect, responsibility, and integrity for the staff and children to follow. We are seeking a leader with a fresh creative perspective and business savvy to drive the business forward.
Minimum requirement of education/experience within one of the following:
- Prior experience as an executive director/associate director (as described by the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care) in a licensed childcare center and be familiar with Oregon state child care licensing requirements OR
- Associate degree or equivalent combined with 1 year in a supervisory position and 2 years of experience in the group care of children OR
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university combined with 6 months of experience in the group care of children, OR
- Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education OR
- At least Step 9 in the Oregon Registry
Job Requirements:
- Proven leadership experience at an early childhood facility with multiple classrooms and programs.
- Variable knowledge of management and supervision of adults, as well as financial management experience.
- Compliance with state licensing standards at a director level, including but not limited to criminal background screening and fingerprinting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national and state education standards, licensing requirements and procedures, and fire, health, and OSHA regulations.
- Strong knowledge of USDA Nutritional Standards for Schools.
- Must be at least 21 years old and meet driving requirements, have a valid Oregon Driver’s License with a clean driving record and willingness to get a Commercial Driver’s License.
The Executive Director responsibilities encompass all aspects of childcare center operation and management.
- Oversee all educational programming and curriculum for classrooms.
- Partners with the Board of Directors for high level strategy, oversight and accountability.
- Ensures successful implementation of approved preschool curriculum by providing and maintaining quality educational programs.
- Maintains compliance with accreditation and state licensing requirements as well as all applicable state and federal laws, and preschool policies and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding National and State Education Standards and maintaining the school at a level exceeding these standards.
- Practice effective counseling and advising of students and caregivers while fostering a safe learning environment.
- Establishes an environment that nurtures and promotes children's development and well-being.
- Manage enrollment, program scheduling, staff ratios, staffing and scheduling.
- Oversee daily classrooms operations, attends after school events, campaigns, and navigates community relations.
- Oversees facility cleanliness, safety and operations.
Leadership and Performance.
- The Executive Director upholds performance standards by modeling professional leadership, management and instructional skills while interacting with others.
- Clearly communicates standards, guidelines, and policies to all staff.
- Ability to train and supervise staff, supporting professional growth and development, as well as supervise the monitoring and evaluation of individual goal accomplishment.
- Evaluate staff and ensure they have hourly training required annually.
- Recruit and hire new staff.
Pay: $50-65K annual salary

Schedule: Full time, flexible schedule depending on staffing coverage and needs. Regular hours of operation M-F 7:00am-6:00pm.
