POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible to lead care coordination, manage radiation related toxicities in partnership with a radiation oncologist and therapists. Assist in complex innovative high dose radiation procedures and provide patient education and supportive care. Responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as the primary liaison between patients, staff and providers. Gives direction to: CMA's, CNA's, and schedulers. Works cooperatively with: Providers, Healthcare Professionals, Allied Health Staff, Registered nurses, patients and families.
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Proficient in starting IV's and using infusion pumps
- Familiar with sterile dressing change.
- Possesses excellent mathematical/computation skills.
- Ability to work independently and to multitask. Also, must be able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and/or providers in all departments.
- Ability to record and verify charges for care and medications
- Oncology experience, preferred
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- MT RN licensure, required (if applicable)
- MT LPN licensure, required (if applicable)
- Basic Life Support, required
- ACLS, required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Medical Terminology
- Proficient in starting IV's
- Basic Nursing Principles and Procedures
- Keyboarding skills
- Basic office skills
