Great Falls Construction is looking for a Preconstruction and Estimating Professional to join our team. In this role, you'll manage project delivery of preconstruction and estimating services with the leadership of the Director of Estimating & Preconstruction while being part of a team that values collaboration, fun and professional growth.

What you will be doing:

  • Leads the estimates and/or preconstruction tasks on assigned projects with timely-roll-out and execution of entire estimate and/or preconstruction deliverable process under the supervision of the Director of Preconstruction & Estimating.
  • Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation and/or information is present to determine scope of work.
  • Solicit and analyze qualified subcontractors and vendors proposals, ensuring adequate coverage and scope understanding for the pricing in all trades.
  • Develop, within company provided estimating software(s), full-scope detailed CSI divisional estimates and quantity take-offs based on design milestones such as, but not limited to conceptual, schematic, bid-build, design-build, design development or construction documents.
  • Provide leadership and direction to preconstruction project team with regards to constructability means and methods, schedule, budget, and strategy.
  • Participate and assist business development in developing and implementing Great Falls strategy and vision.
  •  Assemble pre-bid packages and attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews with architects, clients, subcontractors etc., as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, during the preconstruction phase and beyond through excellent customer service and creative problem solving.
  • Strong focus on building and maintaining subcontractor and vendor relationships to ensure Great Falls remains a top choice for them to work with. Assist business development in subcontractor stewardship efforts.
  • Critically analyze bid documents and understand potential risk factors and opportunities and articulate those to management (i.e. contract bond authorization, contract review, insurance review, critical project criteria and potential pitfalls, risks associated with certain components within estimates, etc.)
  • Attend, facilitate, and/or participate in business meetings, industry events and conferences to promote Great Falls Construction in the markets we serve.  Some events and meetings will be held after hours.
  • Comfort with and knowledge of contracting in construction. Assisting in drafting of agreements if/as required under guidance of leadership team.
  • Serve as a resource in project transition to the Project Operations team to ensure smooth transition and best success of project.
  • Review documents for completeness, identify discrepancies in construction documents or potential scope gaps and seek clarifications from designers.

 

What you will need to succeed:

  • Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience
  • Have a bias toward action and an impatience towards those that lack focus and/or the ability to get results.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex technical information to clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential cost issues and design challenges
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, estimating methodologies, and project management principles.
  •  Proficiency in construction estimating software and project management tools.
  • Flexible and collaborative work style.
  • Ability to adhere to the strictest confidentiality as required
