Great Harvest Bread,Tempe AZ, is looking for a late night production baker or others with high energy and great enthusiasm.

We are an authentic, from scratch artisan bakery, starting with milling our own wheat flour in house to hand icing our finished products. We believe in real food and quality ingredients.

Currently looking to hire part-time with the potential to move to full time.
Job requirements:
- Occasionally lifting 60 lbs.
- Able to stand, walk, hear, see, lift, bend, stoop, reach, climb step stool/ladder, read, use tools and equipment, etc.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong math skills with percents, fractions, and bakery conversions, using bakers weights and imperial measurements.
- Current Food Handlers Training Card
- Current Drivers Lic., Reliable Transportation and Cell Phone
- Multitasking in a fast paced environment
- Time management
- Able to work independently as well as strong teamwork skills
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- 18 years or older
- Loves bread
- Being a serious foodie is a plus.
Stable work history required. No sponge/dough/pastry experience required, position will receive on the job training. Previous restaurant/baking experience a plus.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensures that all products using ingredients according to Great Harvest recipes and have been mixed properly.
- Uses measuring devices, thermometers, mixer, product knowledge and intuitive judgment to prepare products according to Great Harvest’s standards of quality and consistency.
- Develop a “single loaf” attitude about all products work recognizing that every customer judges the entire business on the loaf or pastry that he or she is eating.
- Consistently shapes and portions of all pastry products to specifications.
- Helps at the kneading table to knead, shape and observe the doughs produced, to determine moisture, consistency and ensure the quality of products. Accept informative feedback, comments and observations as to the quality of products to help hone the mixing process as to what develops “perfect” on an ongoing basis ( this ought to happen daily – and forever). Also participating in regular product testing to ensure that it maintains and meets all criteria for “perfect” products using forms and methods approved by Great Harvest Franchising. Learning how to self-correct to improve products, and maintain consistent quality.
- Maintains records on dough consistency, and other systems in order to learn patterns of consistency and learn how to adapt to fluctuating variables.
- Work in a clean and efficient manner and help clean down the kitchen after production is done.
- Be able to shape 4 loaves of Honey Wheat bread in a minute or less.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned and takes initiative to enhance the bakery’s quality and consistency.
- Be available extra hours during holiday seasons and catering events, including: Mardi Gras, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, other holidays.
