Primary Function:
Great Island Homeowners’ Association is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Maintenance Engineer. This position will perform various general maintenance tasks, including preventive and emergency maintenance, to the island homes and facilities.
About Great Island:
Great Island is a summer-oriented residential community of approximately 600 acres in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts on the south shore of Cape Cod. The island, which is accessible by road, consists of pristine beaches on Nantucket Sound and Lewis Bay, marshland, fields, forested conservation land, a sheltered cove, a historic lighthouse and 41 privately owned homes. Other amenities include: four tennis and two pickleball courts, a 10-hole rustic golf course, a small seasonal restaurant, Chapel, waterfront area with two docks, and extensive common areas.
Supervision:
The Maintenance Engineer reports directly to the Island Caretaker.
Primary Duties (including, but limited to):
- Perform facilities maintenance in buildings and common areas as assigned by the Caretaker.
- Follow-up and complete homeowner work requests in a timely fashion.
- Maintain all roadways, turn-offs, and island signage.
- Assisting with light carpentry work, painting, electrical, and plumbing work as needed.
- Collect homeowner trash and recycling.
- Perform tree work and brush control
- Inspect the grounds, buildings, furniture, and equipment for things in need of repair.
- Work with outside business partners to cost effectively source the goods and services required to deliver the quality of product and service expected by the island residents
- Ensure that safety procedures are followed; immediately report any unsafe conditions to GM and/or Caretaker.
Waterfront
- Assist with the launching and hauling of homeowner and association-owned boats
- Install and maintain moorings
- Assemble docks
- Transport boats to local shipyards for repair and winterizing.
Necessary Knowledge, Ability, and Skill:
- Experience with boats and hoisting license preferred.
- Employment is subject to a satisfactory Background Check.
- Basic handyman skills; must become familiar with all equipment and machinery.
- Must be a self-starter.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of similar job experience required.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, and general repair work.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Willing to pitch in when needed.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
