JOB DESCRIPTION – Veteran Student Support Coordinator – Part-Time
REPORTS TO: Director of Education
EFFECTIVE DATE: 11/04/2024
JOB SUMMARY: The following represents a general description. Other duties may be assigned.
The Veteran Student Support Coordinator (VSSC) is responsible for developing and implementing programs and processes to support current, former, and prospective students who are military veterans. This position works closely with the Director of Education and the Marketing and Admissions Manager to develop and continually improve all aspects of the GLBBS experience for veterans.
This position is part-time at approximately 10 hours per month.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- United States Military veteran status (required)
- Active Military or veteran support experience (preferred)
- At least 1 year student support experience at the postsecondary level (preferred)
- Strong computer skills with experience in Google Suite (required)
- Ability to work within a team management system (required)
- Positive interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with veteran students (required)
- Must currently have or agree to complete Veteran Connector training upon hire (required)
- Must possess driver’s license (required)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Veteran Student Support – Prospective Students
- Maintain awareness of and communicate veteran-specific scholarship and grant opportunities to GLBBS Leadership Team
- Assist prospective veteran students with GLBBS application process
- Assist in coordination and growth of annual Veteran Visit Day at GLBBS
- Some travel required
Veteran Student Support – Current Students
- Coordinate and assist with veteran student orientation program
- Coordinate support for student veterans with service-connected disabilities
- Provide appropriate individual counseling to veteran students
- Assist Director of Education with monitoring and evaluation of veteran student retention, progress, and graduation rates
Veteran Student Support – Former Students
- Provide résumé review and military skills translation to veteran students
- Maintain awareness of and communicate veteran-specific hiring fairs to GLBBS Leadership Team
