What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Animal Therapy position at Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice?
Time is our most precious gift. Share your gift with a Hospice patient.
Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you’ll ever spend.
Elara Caring Hospice is currently looking for Volunteers Companion Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Veteran Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Crafting Volunteers. We have patients in need in outlying areas as well as the Grand Rapids Area. These areas include Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Wayland/ Hastings, Greenville, Rockford, Holland, and Saugatuck/Douglas.

Elara Caring Hospice is looking for Pet Therapy volunteers (handlers with dogs only). A visit from a therapy dog can be so beneficial. Terminally ill patients enjoy the extra attention and unconditional love they feel from a four-legged companion. In order to volunteer and visit patients, you must have your own dog who is already certified through Therapy Dogs International, West Michigan Therapy Dogs, or Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs.
Volunteers much have his/her own certified Therapy dogs. The handler must be able to provide the dog’s health record (current DHLPP, Bordetella, Rabies, and fecal tests), therapy certification, and a certified liability insurance policy.
Hours are flexible weekdays, evenings, and weekends. We typically ask for 1-2 hours per week.
For information contact Candy Whipple ~ cwhipple@elara.com or call 231-349-3355.
