Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tamper Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment to support construction and maintenance projects. This role requires a strong understanding of equipment operation, safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate Specialized equipment. (i.e. Tamper.)
- Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.
- Maintains proper equipment appearance and cleanliness.
- May perform labor duties as needed.
- Communicates with supervisor throughout the job process.
- Practices safe working habits.
- Ensures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties require.
- Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.
- Safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment as needed.
- Promote a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- CDL A or CDL B required
- Railroad construction experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and supervisors.
- Ability to operate power tools.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Have a working knowledge of hydraulics/electronics.
Physical Requirements: Mobility to participate in frequent travel to and from the project location; ability to
operate heavy equipment; Agility to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings,
in and around moving vehicles and equipment. Exposure to weather elements; must wear
appropriate PPE required for the project site.
Physical Requirements:
Works at construction sites.
- Uses hands to handle and control materials, tools and vehicle controls.
- Sits for long periods of time in a closed vehicle.
- Uses repetitive motions.
- Uses close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Moves or lifts heavy equipment and objects up to 50 pounds.
- Uses eye-hand-foot coordination.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
- Exposed to loud noise.
