What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Recreation Aide position at Great Lakes Community Action Partnership?
Classroom Recreation Aide - GLCAP Clyde (Green Springs Elementary School)
20 hours per week, Monday - Friday 3 pm to 7 pm, September - May (32 Weeks).
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm, June - July (7 Weeks).
Summary: Assists with the daily activities of the summer and after school program including planning; providing recreational and youth development activities; and ensuring the health, safety and well-being of youth at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing daily supervision of youth.
- Assist in enforcing safety rules and procedures in compliance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services licensing rules.
- Assist in coordinating recreational and youth development activities for students.
- Assist teachers during homework assistance and tutoring time, as needed.
- Assist with data collection and record keeping.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining program materials.
- Model appropriate behavior for youth at all times.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in the team process, both within the department and the corporation.
- Attend internal and external meetings.
- Pursue continuous education and professional development opportunities.
- Out-of-town travel with occasional overnight stays.
- May occasionally be required to work in excess of scheduled work hours per week in order to fulfill position requirements. Overtime must be pre-approved by supervisor.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education:
Required High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Experience:
One to three years experience working with children and adults.
Additional Requirements:
- Initial and periodic physical exams required.
- Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
- Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
