Quality Teaching Specialist I - Fremont, OH
34 hours per week, Monday - Thursday
Pay determined by education and experience starting at $25.06.
Summary: Responsible for providing mentoring, coaching and staff support to ensure the delivery of high quality education services in compliance with all performance standards, licensing requirements, policies, procedures and quality initiatives. Ensure regular observations are conducted, goals are established, and ongoing support is provided to all teaching staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure delivery of high quality developmentally appropriate early childhood education experiences that facilitate growth and development promote school readiness and comply with Federal Head Start Performance Standards, Ohio Early Learning Standards, Ohio DJFS Licensing regulations, and Quality Initiatives.
- Review classroom facilities utilizing the Creative Curriculum Observation Tool; advise and provide support on instructional materials and classroom environments.
- Provide training and support on identified program curriculums and ongoing assessment system Teaching Strategies Gold.
- Monitor and support implementation of lesson plans, daily routines and goal documentation and ensure they incorporate parent engagement, individualization, IFSP/IEP goals, and multi-cultural and multi-lingual support.
- Develop and ensure a regular schedule for conducting classroom and home-based program observations; ensure goals are established to strengthen teaching practices and improve child outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate progress of identified classroom and teaching staff goals; report progress on a regular basis.
- Utilize a variety of tools and resources to ensure appropriate mentoring/coaching supports are provided including; reading materials, modeling, videotaping, reflective practices and other resources to guide learning.
- Ensure quality teacher-child interactions using the CLASS; assist teaching staff with planning and implementing new teaching strategies that will improve interactions.
- Support teaching staff in fully implementing their identified curriculum including Conscious Discipline, and/or the Creative Curriculum, and the ongoing assessment system Teaching Strategies GOLD.
- Works closely with the Social Services/Mental Health Specialist, Nutrition Specialist, Health Specialist, Parent, Family and Community Engagement Specialist, Home-based/Training Specialist and Inclusion Specialist to ensure implementation of component activities into classrooms.
- Provide support for effective transitions for children and families as they move from one setting to another including transition to kindergarten.
- Identify areas for staff growth and professional development; organize and provide mentoring/support to new teaching staff; assist with arranging and presenting staff trainings.
- Organize and/or attend staff, parent, community and state meetings to build effective relationships, provide training, report updates and stay informed on the latest research and best practices in the Early Childhood field.
- Ensure a team approach to service delivery; communicate, coordinate and collaborate with internal staff and external partners as appropriate.
- Maintain and monitor records and submit accurate reports and requested information on a timely bases.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

- May occasionally be required to work in excess of scheduled work hours per week in order to fulfill position requirements. Overtime must be pre-approved by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education: Bachelor degree in early childhood education or elementary education or related field.
Experience: Three to five years experience working in early childhood development and one to three years experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and database software and management information systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver’s license, and maintain a safe driving record.
- Must have insured, dependable transportation available for daily use.
- Initial and periodic physical exams required.
- Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
- Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to be reached by cellular phone during business hours and after hours.
