Executive Assistant

Great Lakes Energy is looking for an Executive Assistant who makes it all possible: planning, organizing, and ensuring no detail is missed! From providing high-level support to our executive team and Board of Directors and managing communications, to coordinating key meetings, this position turns vision into action. Each day is a unique blend of priorities, rapid problem-solving, and strategic support, all tailored to empower the team forward.

Who We Are

For over 85 years, Great Lakes Energy has powered rural communities across 26 counties in western and northern Michigan. As the third-largest Michigan-based electric utility and the state's largest member-owned power company, we serve over 128,000 meters with pride. Beyond delivering reliable electricity, we are leaders in advanced fiber technology through Truestream, our communication solutions subsidiary.

At Great Lakes Energy, we prioritize enriching the lives of our community members and employees. With over 300 team members, we're more than just colleagues-we're a close-knit family, united by a shared vision of growth, innovation, and community service.

A Day in The Life of an Executive Assistant

As an Executive Assistant, your day is a dynamic blend of organization, communication, and problem-solving. You will discover yourself managing internal and external communications, and setting priorities for meetings, appointments, and travel. Throughout the day, you prepare agendas, distribute materials, and organize logistics for board meetings, serving as the main point of contact between the CEO, board members, and external stakeholders. You ensure that information flows seamlessly across teams, tracking deadlines and following up on deliverables for executive projects.

In addition to executive support, you handle sensitive information with discretion, assist with event planning, and work with internal departments and service providers to keep office operations running smoothly. You also oversee the departmental budget and continuously seek ways to optimize processes, enhancing efficiency for the CEO, board, and entire executive team. This position has supervisory responsibilities, including overseeing team performance, providing guidance and mentorship, and ensuring project goals are met efficiently and effectively.

Who You Are

You're the kind of person who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Adaptable and proactive, you're comfortable juggling multiple tasks and are energized by variety. With a strong commitment to excellent service, you're known for your attention to detail and ability to manage responsibilities with a high level of accuracy.

Your tech-savvy nature means you're quick to pick up new programs and are skilled in using digital tools to communicate and stay organized-even without face-to-face interactions. Teamwork is central to your approach; you collaborate effectively, build rapport easily, and take pride in contributing to a positive, supportive workplace culture.

You bring an Associate's Degree in Business Administration or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant experience, giving you a solid foundation in both operational and service excellence.
