As an Optician, you are responsible for providing exceptional customer service to Optical patients/customers. Responsible for assisting patients/customers with their purchase of glasses. Assists with lens fabrication. Repairs and adjusts patients’ glasses. Effectively communicates with patients, patients’ families, coworkers, and doctors. Let’s delve into the key duties and qualifications:
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists patients/customers with their purchase of glasses, providing the best customer service.
· Keeps frame boards and cases stocked and clean.
· Keeps dispensing desks stocked.
· Maintains neat and clean work area, including, but not limited to, the dispensary.
· Responsible for reader and magnifier inventory and reordering.
· Assists lab manager in lens fabrication.
· Repairs and adjusts patients’ glasses, providing excellent customer service.
· Assists Optical Front Desk to check out patients.
· Contacts patients for eyewear pickup.
· Tracks individual frame and sundry orders.
· Performs Optical Front Desk and contact lens department duties as needed.
· Utilizes the necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, lensometer, lens clock, and pupilometer.
· Explains all lens designs and optical materials to patients, providing excellent customer service.
· Performs optical reorders for frames, optical tools, and supplies daily.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to demonstrate customer-focused interpersonal skills in order to interact in an effective manner with physicians, staff, patients, and families. Ability to collaborate with all teams and various levels of personnel as part of a team. Ability to organize, prioritize, and have time management skills. Ability to work extended work hours beyond normal work schedule to include but not limited to evenings, extended shifts, and or extra shifts on short notice.
Physical Demands:
Long periods in stationary positions required throughout work period. The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office. The person in this position frequently communicates with patients, patients’ families, co-workers, and doctors. Must have ability to cope with physical and mental stress. May require assisting wheel chair or physically challenged patients.

Potential exposure to fumes, dust gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable disease. Awareness of exposure as a high-risk environment.
