Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. We serve all WI tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub grants. Programs serve a range of functions from Children to Elders. Program Coordinator, FGP / SCP / SDP
The Program Coordinator for the Foster Grandparents, Senior Companion, and Senior Demonstration (FGP / SCP / SDP) Programs provide pre-service and in-service training and guidance for elder volunteers that care for frail elders and serve as mentors to youth in their communities as well as assisting tribal staff with recruitment, orientation, placement and coordination of all volunteer activities as well as volunteer development. Serves as liaison between Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLITC) Program Manager, Program Director and tribal work sites. Daily attendance is an essential duty of this position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Travel to tribal in-service meetings, at least 40 meetings per year.
- Assist tribal staff at participating tribal sites in recruiting, orienting, and placing volunteers at approved tribes within the GLITC service area.
- Assist tribal staff in coordinating volunteer activities, including volunteer development, monthly in-service training and work site placement in accordance with program work plans.
- Maintain all fiscal documentation, volunteer records and presentation evaluations from in-service meetings.
- Set-up quarterly in-service training sessions and conferences for all FGP / SCP / SDP volunteers.
- Coordinate pre-service orientation for new volunteers, with a site supervisor.
- Arrange for speakers or presentations with the help of site supervisors or other tribal staff.
- Keeps in close contact with site supervisors to determine volunteer needs, requests, or issues.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of volunteers, including follow-through on Assignment Plans and other required volunteer forms.
- Other clerical duties as needed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
Working Relationships and Scope :
Reports directly to the Program Director. Occasional contact with other employees throughout the organization for the purpose of gathering and providing information to program participants. Daily contact with volunteers to train and program participants to evaluate needs. Ongoing contact with federal and state agencies for purposes of remaining current on various issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Associate degree in health care, human service, general business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Minimum of one year’s experience in the human services field required. Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and / or not-for-profit agency preferred. Individuals must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Individuals must be able to follow routine instructions and apply logic in the solving of various computer related issues. Must be able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide). You must possess a valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation with adequate insurance.
This is a full-time non-exempt opportunity working Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, in our Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin office. The salary for this position is $20.00 hourly with benefits including : Annual / Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. This is not a remote position.
