Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. We serve all member tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub-grants. Programs range from Child and Maternal services to Education, Epidemiology, Disability counseling and elder support services. Our Mission is : To Enhance the lives of all Native American People.
Program Director Small Business Technical Assistance
The Program Director Small Business Technical Assistance provides small business consulting services to the following categories of clients : Tribal enterprises, Native American businesses that are either located on a reservation or that is not located on a reservation but directly benefit the economy of a reservation.
Principal Duties :
- Provides small business consulting services to Native American businesses including management assistance to existing businesses, start-up assistance to new businesses, and technical assistance to new and existing businesses in gaining access to Tribal, State, and Federal business assistance and financing programs.
- Analyzes client information and conducts research into technical assistance needs.
- Conducts feasibility and market studies in cooperative effort with clients.
- Establishes financing packages for client businesses and participates in the process to gain program financing.
- Interviews business clients to determine scope of proposed programs and identify types of assistance needed.
- Develop client business and marketing plans.
- Coordinates the Job and Business Development Program as administered through the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association (WISCAP).
- Completes all reporting requirements and application procedures for program funding agencies.
- Responsible for budget development and expense allocation.
- Encourage economic development on Wisconsin’s Indian reservations while considering local factors, Indian cultural and social tradition.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
This is a full-time exempt position, Monday through Friday, 8am-4 : 30pm, located in our Lac du Flambeau, WI Central Office. This is not a remote position. The salary for this position is $57,000 – 62,000 annually, dependent upon education and experience. This position includes the following benefits : Annual Leave, Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan.
Qualifications :
Required : Must possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or a related field. Minimum five years of experience in business management and / or accounting, preferably within mid-to-large organizations. Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and / or not-for-profit agency preferred. Grant writing experience preferred. Individuals must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Individuals must be able to read and interpret detailed technical information and communicate this information to technical and non-technical individuals. Must be able to perform basic and advanced math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, algebraic, geometric calculations). Must possess a valid driver’s license and / or reliable transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel.
