What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Great Lakes Landscape Design?
Summary:
The purchasing agent is responsible for managing all pricing in LMN to ensure our estimates are accurate at all times. They are responsible for purchasing all nursery material, pavers, natural stone, irrigation, lighting, audio, mulch, any additional materials needed for landscape services, as well as office supplies and paper goods. The purchaser maintains the landscape install schedule in coordination with material availability.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Purchasing of all materials used in landscape installs & landscape maintenance
- Purchasing of all paper goods and office supplies
- Maintaining the landscape installation schedule, making necessary changes in relation to product availability, and communicating changes to the schedule daily

Ensure necessary materials are on site prior to the start of the project
- Coordinate the delivery of remaining materials as jobs progress
- Negotiate with vendors for volume pricing and early pay discounts
- Determine which materials are better to buy in bulk and not by job
- Uphold Great Lakes Landscape Design’s standards by ensuring all materials are of the highest quality prior to installation
- Visit with suppliers to ensure the quality of their materials and build relationships
- Attendance at meetings to include: weekly direct report, weekly production schedule, and monthly financial meetings
- Execute purchase order process daily
- Manage by the budget
Qualifications
