- Act as the lead nurse in the interventional radiology suite, directing and coordinating the nursing team during procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient's medical history, vital signs, and current condition.
- Triage patient phone calls in a timely and professional manner
- Review patient reports and lab results to assess the patient's readiness for the procedure.
- Discuss the procedure, risks, and expectations with patients to obtain informed consent.
- Prepare patients for interventional procedures, including IV access, positioning, and sedation administration.
- Administer medications as prescribed - including contrast agents, sedatives, and pain relief medications.
- Assist interventional radiologists during the procedure by monitoring the patient's vital signs, administration of conscious sedation, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Monitor patient's response to sedation and intervene when necessary to maintain patient safety.
- Monitor patients in recovery - assessing for any complications or adverse reactions.
- Provide post-procedure instructions - including activity restrictions and follow-up appointments.
- Educate patients and families about the procedure, potential side effects, and when to seek medical attention.
- Document all patient care activities, assessments, and observations in the medical record.
- Provides nursing assistance to other departments including assisting in accessing mediports, starting IVs and contrast coverage.
- Order and Re-stocks supplies, order medications, and maintains medication logs.
- Ensure that patient confidentiality is respected and that the dignity of the patient is assured and maintained at all times.
- Administers Tuberculin Testing to the physician or staff as needed.
- Work collaboratively with interventional radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare staff.
- Observe and comply with GLMI Policies and Procedures and Health and Safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSRN preferred.
- Current unencumbered NYS Registered Nurse license. Current BLS/ ACLS required.
- 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in interventional radiology, critical care, or procedural nursing.
- Leadership experience or charge nurse experience preferred.
- Critical thinking skills and judgment.
- Critical care experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented fast paced environment.
- Must be able to multitask
- Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time
- Frequently bending/stooping, and reaching.
- Must have the ability to pull, push and lift patients and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Associated health risks related to patient exposure.
- Must be able to visually observe and verbally interact with patients.
- Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job with the type of judgments and potential consequences outlined above.
- Exposed to some noises, odors, diseases, threat of infection, etc. Normal heat, light, air space, and safe working environment.

Salary : $40 - $50
