Job Title: Part Time MRI Technologist Aide/Medical Assistant

Summary: The Part Time MRI Technologist Assistant works as a member of the MRI team, reporting to the MRI Manager. This role supports the patient experience and acts as a liaison between the registration and scheduling team, and the MRI department to ensure communication and patient care is maintained. This role performs a variety of tasks including patient calls, documentation in charts, assisting with patient needs and supporting the MRI Technologist.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Proficiently navigates the RIS system and notates in the electronic medical record, as appropriate
- Makes outbound calls to or takes inbound calls from patients to confirm their appointment, review MRI screening questions, and answer patient questions.
- Displays excellent patient care while maintaining continuous communication between the patient and the technologist to ensure a friendly environment with an efficient workflow.
- Has a thorough knowledge of MRI safety requirements including knowledge of the MRI environment
- Reviews the safety protocols and procedures with the patients and talks through the expectations the patient should have for the procedure.
- Thoroughly reviews patient paperwork to ensure that appropriate procedures are being completed.
- Offers support to patients during imaging and assists the Technologist with directing patients in preparation for their exam.
- Assembles films and/or CDs if needed, uploads them, and obtains reports as required.
- Obtains accurate documentation of patient history pertaining to their specific examination.
- Routinely cleans and stocks rooms and control areas while assisting in the upkeep of patient supplies and inventory control.
- Understands the uses and purpose of coils and how to set up for an exam.
- Notifies supervisor of any equipment issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by authorized personnel to meet the needs of the organization.

Necessary Skills:
- Strong computer skills including use of information systems and Google based programs
- Problem solving skills
- Strong oral communication skills including both phone and in person
- Strong customer service skills and diplomacy
- Experience in radiology or medical terminology preferred
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, prior administrative/medical assisting experience helpful.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- May be asked to lift up to 25 pounds
- Standing, walking, sitting, keyboard use for long periods of time
- Ability to listen and communicate with patients face to face or over the phone
- Will be required to read, write, work in a fast-paced office setting
- Ability to make decisions and think quickly
