THE POSITION:
We are recruiting for an experienced reliable medical assistant with the ability to multi-task in a busy Orthopaedic Center where you will work collaboratively with physician. You will perform a combination of various administrative and clinical tasks

· The individual should be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude and able to work in a team environment
· Candidates must be able to perform both the clinical and clerical functions of the job as assigned

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative Duties
- Utilize computers, telephones, answer phones and make calls
- Accurately update and file medical records
- Schedule, coordinate; and if necessary, reschedules patients appointments and surgeries
- Arrange for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Clinical Duties
- Receive, update and document medical histories, vital signs and other information either verbally, in writing or electronically via GLOC information systems
- Prepare patients for examination, treatment, and diagnostic procedures, prepare injections
- Assist providers during exams and procedures and paperwork
- Collect and prepare lab specimens
· Instruct patients about medication and contraindications and/or how to use or obtain medical supplies
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
- Transmit prescription orders and refills as directed
- Remove sutures and change dressings
- Review the daily appointment schedule, start appropriate templates for provider use at each visit
- Ensure exam and treatment rooms are clean and fully stocked
- Start process to schedule patient for surgery, complete MA portion and task to provider for review and signing template.
- Update, maintain and communicate information regarding physicians surgery schedules
THE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Certification/Licensure
- High School Diploma or GED certificate
- Not required but preferred- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or successfully passing a RMA Exam
- Not required but preferred- Valid Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), or
- Not required but preferred- Valid RMA Certification (RMA)
- Not required but preferred- Completed Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program
Preferred Knowledge but not required
- If not certified- has 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in medical field
- Orthopaedic practice and related patient care
- Examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures, including casting

Pay: $37,440.00 - $45,760.00 per year
