Description
- Assist with minor and major truck and trailer repairs.
- Help mechanics perform maintenance and repairs such as oil changes, checks tires and brakes, and engage in other similar tasks.
- Assist mechanics with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
- Collaborate with operators and managers to diagnose problems with equipment and plan repairs.
- Assist with regular diagnostic tests on equipment.
- Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop and return tools to proper location.
- Maintain, order, and pick up parts and other shop inventory.
- Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on equipment.
- Performs other operational duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience or vocational training in diesel mechanics is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of diesel engine components and mechanical systems.
- Excellent mechanical skills and proficiency in using power and hand tools.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to read and interpret service and repair manuals.
