We're on the lookout for a seasoned, forward-thinking Senior HR Generalist to steer HR strategies and policies, and foster a thriving workplace culture. Our Senior HR Generalist will be the sole HR leader for this rapidly growing, privately held roofing corporation.

Our Senior HR Generalist will have one eye on the tactical needs of operating the business and the other looking forward, devising plans to streamline operations and crafting creative means to serve our team of the finest roofers in the Midwest. Your daily activities will be driven by the needs of the team, so no two days are the same. The list below provides a brief overview of responsibilities and focus areas.

Responsibilities for Senior HR Generalist: 
A role like this comes with some important responsibilities, some of those include:
• Provide day-to-day support and coaching to department managers and supervisors with regards to employee relations matters.
• Identify and coordinate training and development opportunities for employees to create a highly skilled and flexible workforce.
• Recommend company policy and procedure changes based on workforce needs and implement changes in respective departments.
• Provide insight into respective departments’ team dynamics and advise managers and supervisors on ways to increase employee engagement.
• Partner with departments to identify staffing needs based on capacity planning of the business
• Execute full cycle recruitment of hourly production positions including sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and extending offers.
• Assist managers and supervisors in making high-quality hiring decisions based on job qualifications and according to Great Lakes Roofing’s mission and vision.
• Onboard new employees ensuring timely and accurate completion of required paperwork and pre-employment testing.
• Assimilate new employees to Great Lakes Roofing and the department team by conducting orientations.

• Build relationships with high schools, technical colleges and/or universities to ensure a long-term strategic pipeline of talent.
• Ensure employees receive necessary feedback to maximize department performance through the administration of 60 day, 6 month and annual reviews. Then, provides coaching to managers and supervisors on effective forms of feedback.
• Recommend salary changes based on market data, employee performance and experience. Ensure compensation is aligned with external market and internal equity.
• Maintains HRIS with accurate data
• Understands the current state of recruitment and retention through metrics and analytics. Provides insight and recommendations to operations based on trends.
• Coordinates employee rewards, recognition and appreciation events and activities.

To summarize, in this role, you will support the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including employee relations, training and development, staffing and recruitment, payroll, benefits and compensation, and enforcing company policies and practices. You will develop and maintain the best possible working relationships with internal and external customers by providing service that meets or exceeds our employees’ expectations.

Qualifications for Senior HR Generalist:
What Does It Take to Be a Fit for This Role?
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or higher ed.
• Exceptional prior experience in Human Resources
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with overlapping deadlines and work well in a fast-paced environment

The qualified candidate will be a self-starter needing minimal direction once integrated into the role. As the sole practitioner, experience and knowledge of all Federal, State and local laws, benefit administration, payroll, and policy development are mandatory.

 

Benefits for Senior HR Generalist:
This leader starting salary ranges between $70,000- $85,000, based on experience, and will be eligible to earn quarterly bonuses.

Hours will be full time, 1st shift, M-F—no weekends or holidays. This role will also include paid membership in SHRM and Metro Milwaukee SHRM while you're on the team.
