What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor position at Great Lakes Sailing LLC?
We are seeking instructors for our 2025 summer season (May 1st - October 31st) to teach private sessions and help manage group lessons. Safety, fun, and learning are our priorities out on Lake Michigan. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching, learning, and interacting with others on a daily basis. In addition, love of being on the water and soaking up the sun are a must. Exceptional customer service skills are required along with handling light administrative tasks. This is a seasonal, part or full time job with employee perks. Full-time employment may be possible in certain situations. The majority of lessons are during the week, however, some weekend and evening hours are required.
Duties:
- Follow safety guidelines at all times while promoting a fun and instructive environment.
- Teach private, two-hour sailing lessons throughout the week to students of all ages and skill levels in various conditions.
- Minor administration: Have customers fill out liability and emergency contact forms, file info in proper places.
- Maintain equipment: Bail out boats following weather, fix equipment when necessary or alert appropriate departments of concern.
Requirements:
- Good administrative and interpersonal skills. Ability to build a good rapport with students.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current USCG license or Captains is preferred but not required to apply.
- Up to date CPR and First Aid certificates preferred, though there is potential to get certified for right candidate.
- US Sailing certifications are preferred but not required. We can certify you.
- Must be able to pass a Drug screening.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
