Job summary:
The Maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the GLS’s goals and objectives.
In this position, you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. You will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions.
The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.
1. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
2. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
3. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
4. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
5. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
6. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
7. Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
8. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
9. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
10. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
11. Perform maintenance around shop hours to prevent downtime.
12. Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
13. Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
14. Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
15. Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheets.
16. Schedule outside maintenance when required.
17. Added shop CI improvements, help with any shop errands, keeping up on light snow removal.
18. Other projects as directed by management.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Requires a high school degree or its equivalent.
2. OSHA 30 Hour
Abilities Required:
1. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of material, methods, tools and equipment.
3. Demonstrated ability to work in poor lighting, heating and ventilation.
4. Demonstrated ability to work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
5. Demonstrated ability to work in dirty and noisy areas.
6. Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools.
7. Demonstrated ability to work in tight places.
8. Demonstrated ability to lift moderately heavy objects (50-90 pounds).
9. Demonstrated ability to do excessive walking, standing, bending and stooping.
10. Demonstrated ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
