What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afternoon Dispatcher (Full-Time) position at Great Lakes Wine and Spirits?
Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is a growing statewide company seeking a Transportation Dispatch for our warehouses in Saginaw.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Dispatch Checker Associate is responsible for fielding calls for delivery drivers while answering questions and giving direction. Other duties include but not limited to:
- Completing Accident/Injury reports as needed
- Communicating with lease providers (Ryder & Penske) for Preventative Maintenance and route breakdowns
- Auditing route paperwork and correcting errors
- Assisting drivers and cashiers with sorting wine and spirit cases for returns
- Opening and Closing depot buildings
- Customer Service - handling customer issues
- Cleaning and organizing
- Setting statuses of invoices in our GLO system for cashiering purposes
- Communicating with Customers, Sales and management via email and phone
- Making quick, educated decisions
- Understanding the Union Business Agreement
- Other tasks and assignments as needed.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is an in-person position and must be present in the offices of the warehouse. The Dispatcher may occasionally be exposed to loud, moving mechanical parts within the warehouse as this position may be required to be on the dock at times assisting drivers. This makes the position physically demanding, separating and organizing cases, and will require occasional lifting up to 40 pounds while being exposed to all weather conditions.
Work Schedule
The is a full-time position working the afternoon shift Monday through Friday. Saturdays may be required as business schedule demands.

Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/GED
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry 40 lbs.
- Experience in dispatching (preferred)
- Experience working in a warehouse environment (preferred)
Additional Requirements
- Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable contracts, signed agreements, and work rules.
- Cooperates with all management and staff of GLWAS.
- Follows all MLCC rules and regulations, as they apply to the position.
- Use alcohol in a responsible manner when related to business activities.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including a full Background Check, 10-Panel Drug Test, Physical Evaluation, and Agility(Lift) Test
