What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concessions Manager position at Great Neck Baseball League?
As the director of Great Neck Baseball Concession stand, you would be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the stand's operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service to customers, and making sure that everything is running according to health and safety regulations.
Below are some key duties for the role, mostly overseeing the Managerial duties are followed:
Oversee the below duties and bring to the board any issues/concerns/improvements. You are the oversight between Concessions staff and GN.
1. Staff Management: Hiring for the Manager will be approved by the Concessions Director along with Executive Board
- Recruitment & Scheduling: Hire and schedule workers for shifts, ensuring enough staff is available.
- Training: Provide training for new staff on food safety, customer service, cash handling, and concession stand procedures.
- Supervision: Monitor staff performance, ensuring that they follow safety guidelines and maintain high service standards.
- Conflict Resolution: Address any issues that arise between staff or customers in a professional manner.
2. Inventory Management (oversee/coordinate)
- Stocking: Ensure the concession stand is stocked with enough food, drinks, and supplies (e.g., napkins, cups, utensils, etc.) before each event.
- Ordering: Place orders for new supplies, keeping track of sales trends and seasonal needs to avoid overstocking or running out of popular items.
- Storage: Oversee proper storage of perishable and non-perishable items to prevent spoilage and ensure freshness.
3. Customer Service
- Greeting & Interaction: Ensure friendly, efficient service and handle any customer complaints or issues in a positive manner.
- Point of Sale (POS): Oversee register operations, ensuring accurate transactions and handling any issues with payments, such as refunds or exchanges.
- Quality Control: Ensure that food and drinks are prepared to a high standard, served quickly, and are safe to consume.
4. Health and Safety Compliance
Manager must have a food handler license
Maintain/schedule a current Health inspection
- Food Safety: Monitor food handling practices to ensure adherence to local health and safety regulations. This includes temperature controls, hygiene practices, and proper storage.
- Sanitation: Ensure that the stand is clean at all times, including regularly cleaning countertops, cooking equipment, and restocking napkins and hand sanitizers.
- Waste Management: Oversee the proper disposal of waste and recyclables.
5. Financial Management
- Budgeting: Create and manage the concession stand budget, ensuring that expenditures stay within limits and maximizing profitability.
- Cash Handling: Ensure proper cash management practices to track any umpire fees, including balancing the register and overseeing cash drops.
6. Marketing and Promotions
- Menu Planning: Advertise specials such as (Ynot-Chick fila), balancing popular items with healthier or seasonal options.
- Promotions: Develop and implement promotions to increase sales, such as discounts on certain items during specific times or combo deals.
- Signage & Visibility: Ensure that signage is clear and visible, so customers know what’s and prices.
7. Equipment and Maintenance
- Maintenance Checks: Ensure that all equipment (grills, fryers, refrigerators, etc.) is in good working condition. Handle or arrange for repairs when necessary.
- Setup and Teardown: Oversee the setup of the stand before each event and teardown afterward, ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
- Grease Trap must be cleaned at the beginning of each season
- Fire safety inspection for the grill and extinguishers are done
- Grease barrel is emptied when full
8. High Volume Coordination
- Timing and Flow: Ensure the stand is prepared and ready for high-traffic times, such as during intermissions, tournaments, weekend peak times
- Parking lot attendant for Saturdays must be a priority and is usually done by one of the concession employees
9. Reporting
- Sales Reports: Coordinate sales reports, merchandise cost etc. with the treasurer to review and report to the board
- Overall status: Report concession stand total expenditures vs revenue to be reviewed monthly.
- Feedback Collection: Collect customer feedback to improve service, and review performance regularly.
