This part time position works Monday - Sunday varying shifts, mornings and evenings.
A successful Barn Attendant will provide daily care to the equestrian heard and livestock at Winton Woods Farm & Equestrian Center! Ensures visitor satisfaction and attends to the needs and safety of our guests. Will maintain responsibility for feeding, watering, turning-out, grooming, tacking and performing other tasks to provide proper care of horses used in lessons, camps, trail rides, badge programs & horse shows. Will also be responsible for daily care of all other program livestock at the farm. Observes horses and livestock on a regular basis to identify possible health problems and initiate corrective action through management.
- Keeps barns, crossties and arenas clean, organized and tidy by removing manure, spreading wood shavings, cleaning feed tubs, water buckets, & and water troughs, and performing other cleaning tasks.
- Ensures equestrian and program animal equipment is maintained in proper condition.
- Answers questions and provides information to assist visitors in enjoying riding facilities in a safe manner. Assists guest with horse riding procedures. Ensures public safety and proper treatment of horses.
- Notifies proper authority of supply inventory shortages.
- Works weekends and holidays.
USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee frequently lifts or exerts force on items weighing up to 40-60 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within 3 days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
