Join our team as a Golf Course Superintendent at Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course! Our beautiful lake front course has fantastic views that our guests enjoy while playing on our immaculately maintained 18-hole course. We do annually about 42,000 – 43,000 rounds of golf. It’s an exciting time to be a part of our team as we are in the beginning phases of a brand-new irrigation system replacement project. Also, once delivery is complete on capital purchases, we will have virtually a brand-new fleet of operations’ equipment too.

The Golf Course Superintendent position will supervise assigned staff to accomplish daily maintenance and care of golf course turf, landscaping, irrigation, equipment, and facilities within assigned location(s). Will also work closely with the Golf General Manager to monitor and control expenditures and ensures safe conditions for guests and staff. This full-time position works various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the completion of daily maintenance and care of golf course turf, landscaping, irrigation, equipment, and facilities within assigned location(s).
- Responsible for the coordination and application of all turf grass related chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer, and fungicides.
- Directly supervises full-time and part-time staff to accomplish assigned tasks; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Great Parks’ policies and applicable laws, and delegated authority.
- Responsibilities include participating in and making recommendations pertaining to the selection and discipline of employees, and other personnel decisions in coordination with Human Resources Staff
- Plans and delegates work assignments, trains employees and provides guidance as needed.
- Resolves work issues and ensures work complies with Great Parks’ policy and performance standards.
- Provides leadership, direction, supervision, and guidance to staff to promote positive employee morale and maximize work performance. Schedules and delegates assignments and ensures work complies with quality standards, timeframes, and specifications.
- Monitors and controls expenditures both direct and indirect. Prepares and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly records and reports. Approves purchasing card expenditures and provides input into operating budget review and development. Manages payroll budget and maintenance supply budget.
- Identifies and prioritizes capital improvement needs and assists in the purchase of capital equipment and turf chemicals.
- Works closely with the Golf General Manager to establish work priorities and needs and determines project goals, time frames and standards.
- Works and communicates effectively with other departments, leadership, peers, and subordinates; attends and participates in meetings; completes required training.
- Inspects work in progress and ensures work quality meets established standards. Analyzes and resolves difficult problems and provides direction as necessary. Oversees independent contractors in the completion of various projects.
- Assumes responsibility for safety of employees in operation of equipment and performing other work tasks. Trains employees on safe and proper work methods and equipment. Monitors safety records and creates safety programs. Ensures golf course conditions and infrastructure are safe for park guests.
- Ensures proper maintenance, servicing, safety and function of golf equipment, vehicles, and tools. Works cooperatively with assigned Conservation & Parks mechanic and various third-party repair services.
- Participates in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, and trade shows.
- Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks of Hamilton County’s policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance, and works outside of normal schedule as required.
