Great Parks is hiring for Outdoor Educators / Day Camp Counselors! This position will be based out of our Sharon Woods and will have camps here, Woodland Mound and at Lake Isabell. There may also be travel to East region parks for other styles of programming. We will be offering several 3–4 hour camps for ages 6-14. We are looking for individuals that can lead campers through various activities including hiking, fishing, creeking, games, crafts and more. Staff may also be asked to present animal presentations or general hikes with the public. Staff should except to work 20-40 hours depending on camp and program schedules.
This part time position works various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Here's what you will do :
- Presents inclusive interpretive programs focused on local natural / cultural history, environmental topics and sustainability to diverse groups and individuals.
- Communicates factual information in an accurate, educational and entertaining manner utilizing experiential learning techniques wherever possible.
- Creates educational opportunities shared through various sources such as print, web and kiosks.
- Leads Day Camp activities with additional staff at a 1 adult / 6 child ratio
- Works with live animals during presentations; gives demonstrations; uses various forms of technology to enhance programming; distributes written materials; leads hikes; provides care of program and display animals.
- Assists in creating / maintaining documents as required.
- Job requires choice, and application, of a variety of procedures and methods in developing programs, selecting topics, and resolving work problems, with the use of judgement in the analysis of surrounding facts and circumstances.
- Represents Great Parks in a positive manner; provides general park information and answers inquiries as needed; collects and deposits program fees.
- Monitors the safety of trails and interpretive areas; promptly reports problems.
- Works and communicates effectively with other departments, leadership, volunteers, and peers; attends and participates in meetings; completes required training.
- Provides assistance with special events and other tasks assigned by the Regional Education Manager.
- Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.
- Work results are normally checked through administrative processes
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance, and works outside of normal schedule as required.
- Represents the agency at offsite events and meetings; speaks and presents to internal and external groups; participates in overnight or multi-day travel for training, professional development or information gathering.
- Utilizes and promotes environmentally sustainable practices and processes.
- Regularly assists with setting up and / or tearing down tables, chairs and equipment for programs and events.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
