Trucking Operations Manager

Great Plains Trucking is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team. This position reports to the Trucking Division President and will be responsible for directing and coordinating the trucking office to ensure consumer wholegoods, freight and manufacturing raw materials are delivered in the most safe, efficient, and profitable manner.
Typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m, at our Trucking Office in Salina, KS.

This position reports to the Trucking Division President and will be responsible for directing and coordinating the trucking office to ensure consumer wholegoods, freight and manufacturing raw materials are delivered in the most safe, efficient, and profitable manner.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with all Corporate Divisions and GP Trucking customers to align and achieve company goals.
- Create Trucking Operational long-range plans to support collective goals and deliver products to our customers and raw materials to our plants safely and on time.
- Collaborate with Trucking management team in developing administrative and operational policies and procedures which provide optimum use of equipment, facilities, and trucking team.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and governmental regulations.
- Direct investigations into causes of customer or shipper complaints, resolve concerns, and follow up with customer to ensure resolution is completed.
- Analyze financial expenditures, budget performance, and operation reports to analyze rates, tariffs, operating costs and revenues.
- Prepare business proposal of operational changes for final approval.
- Recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to increase efficiency and services of operations team.
- Approve requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies within limits of approval authority and department budget.
- Lead daily operations of the Trucking Division, including problem resolution, lean initiatives, creating efficiencies, and introducing new processes to improve performance and results.
- Delegate work to develop skills of team, provides coaching and development feedback, and facilitates performance evaluations.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- 5 Years’ combined experience in leading operational performance; e xperience in Trucking or Logistics company is preferred.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to build relationships with executives, OTR Drivers and customers.
- Demonstrated strong decision making and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage multiple tasks and/or initiatives simultaneously.
- Minimal travel may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of similar experience
