Welder Trainer – 1st Shift – Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a dynamic Welder Trainer to join our team at the new CE Facility in Salina, KS. The Welder Trainer will provide additional training to newly hired welders to increase their skills to Great Plains production standards.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and ensure that new hires meet quality and production standards
- Follow-up on employee quality and productivity standards once they are assigned to their weld team
- Provide coaching and feedback during training program to aid with continuous improvement
- Consistently initiate and implement improvements to the weld training program
- Perform production welding between weld training classes as needed.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Work well with all personalities and have on-the-job experience training and mentoring a variety of coworkers
- Ability to create a new hire training plan based on the individual’s background and experience
- Proficient in training new hires to run robot welders and hand weld to plant standards prior to completion of program
- Proficient with Great Plains’ Weld Machines and all weld processes
- Proficient in weld set-up for Great Plains and Land Pride Plants
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, and serves as a role model in safety behavior and wearing PPE in the plants
- 3-5 years of weld experience and completion of vo-tech or community college weld program; or combination of experience and education
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering symbols
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Strong written and verbal communication; bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Available to work split shifts, when needed, to support supervisor or lead in facilitating on-the-job training
