Summary / objective
As a member of the Technical Support team the Desktop Technician will provide a high quality customer service experience to the faculty, staff and students at Great Plains Technology Center. The technician assists in the maintenance of the school system's network components and works with the Network Administrator to help ensure the effective operation of the systems at the school.
Essential functions
- Install, diagnose, repair, maintain and upgrade all PC software / hardware to ensure optimal workstation performance
- Serve as the first point of contact to resolve IT technology problems for staff
- Monitor work queue
- Deployment of new computers
- Troubleshooting (in person, by telephone, or via email)

Work environment
The desktop technician typically works in a classroom environment, but the mission of the school may require work in other settings including outdoors. A standard workweek as assigned by administration is required, but evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate activities.
Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to remain stationary at times, frequently move about their office, building and / or across campus, travel to offsite locations and communicate with staff, parents and students. Employee will be required to move / position objects up to 50 lbs and to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.
Travel required
Occasional travel within and outside of the Great Plains Technology Center district may be required for work at other school sites, professional development and participation in other Great Plains Technology Center activities.
