Job Title: Machinist Department: Machine Shop
Reports to: Machine Shop Supervisor FLSA (Exempt / Non Exempt): Non Exempt
THIS POSITION IS 2ND SHIFT. EMPLOYEE WILL START ON FIRST SHIFT TO TRAIN AND THEN MOVE TO SECOND SHIFT.
Job Summary: The main responsibility of this position will be to operate various conventional and CNC mills and lathes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set-up and operate multi-axis CNC Machines.
- Set up and operate conventional mills and lathes.
- Work from blueprints, sketch sheets, and written instructions.
- Perform dimensional verifications and use an array of measurement and inspection equipment.
- Maintain acceptable levels of cutters, bits and other shop supplies.
- Develop tools, fixtures, and shop aids as dictated by the job.
- Insure a quality product by using tools in a proper and safe manner.
- Work as a team member by effectively communicating production needs and helping teammates to reach daily production goals.
- Keep work area clean and comply with 5S processes.
- Participate in Lean manufacturing training and Kaizen events with a focus on eliminating waste in all production activities.

Job Qualifications:
Required
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new processes in an effective manner in order to meet production goals and eliminate variation in product.
- Experience with machining various types of metal including Inconel, stainless, and aluminum.
- Frequent usage of various measurement devices including calipers, scale, micrometer, height gage, depth gage, flow meter, and electrical analysis equipment.
- Ability to communicate with leaders and teammates in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Excellent organizational skills
- 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma and/or GED.
Preferred
- 2 years of machining experience.
- Prior exposure to aerospace requirements and practices.
- Experience with CNC programming (preferably Mastercam).
- Understanding of lean and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience and understanding of GD&T.
Physical Demands:
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Tools / Equipment:
- Powered and hand tools to perform the function of product assembly. Some hand tools may have vibration.
Working Conditions:
- Temperature controlled factory environment.
