Job Description
- Greet public and register Emergency Room patients.
- Perform clerical and reception duties utilizing knowledge of medical terminology.
- Duties include answering telephones, reviewing physician order and various health care documents, completing order entry.
- Schedule patients and accept cash collections.
- Conduct patient interviews to verify demographic and insurance information necessary for the patient and third-party payers, assures compliance with all state and federal rules/regulations pertaining to insurance carrier, and gathers signatures for required forms.
- Operate switchboard and utilizes paging system.
- Monitors various alarm panels and dispatches for disaster planning, weather warnings, and other facility codes.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure patient access management and to maximize the revenue cycle.
REQUIRED
- High School diploma or GED
- Medical Terminology
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
- Computer classes and/or experience
- Previous healthcare experience
