Greets patients and families when they arrive at the clinic. Verifies all pertinent demographic information that is required including data used for regulatory compliance. Collects co-pay and verifies correct insurance information at each visit.

What You Will Do
- Answer telephones, direct calls, and provide appropriate amount of information when taking messages for follow up.
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance, past due balances and record transactions.
- Collect, enter and verify patient information to include demographics and insurance.
- Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address complaints.
- Scanning/import records to EMR and generate mailings.
- Greets patient and families; provides a positive first impression.
- Maintain inventory and supplies.
- Operate office equipment.
- Schedule/reschedule patient appointments according to provider preferences and template.
- Strictly follow all health system rules, regulations and HIPPA guidelines.
- Train other staff members to perform work activities, such as using computer applications.
- Troubleshoot problems involving office equipment and computer software.
- Utilize the health system phone and secure messaging.
- Process patient requests appropriately, based on clinic-specific expectations. This may include receiving and relaying accurate, detailed medical information.
- General understanding of insurance, eligibility as related to revenue cycle
- Completing and obtaining accurate release of information.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent Required
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants Preferred
- Medical Terminology Preferred
- Previous healthcare experience Preferred
- Prefer computer classes and/or experience Preferred
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Talking to others in a professional manner with awareness to tone and body language to convey information effectively.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
- The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
