Job Description
A Brief Overview
The Gift Shop Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the branch gift shop, ensuring smooth functionality in areas such as volunteer scheduling, inventory management, visual merchandising, and customer engagement. This role collaborates with Marketing and Communications to support sales goals and enhance the customer experience.
What You Will Do
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer staff, implementing an organized training program and recognition system to foster engagement and performance.
- Curate and regularly update visual displays and merchandising in alignment with the established marketing plan, considering seasonal trends, customer preferences, and sales goals.
- Oversee cashiering operations, ensuring accurate receipting and recording of sales through various transaction methods; maintain detailed sales and inventory records and facilitate daily deposits.
- Manage and participate in inventory control processes, including physical inventories and spot checks, to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Communicate insights on marketable goods and gift items to the Manager, tailoring selections to customer preferences, seasonal demand, and the branch's audience.
- Maintain product quality standards consistent with the institution's image and target audience.
- Prepare sales volume forecasts, establish performance criteria, and contribute to sales promotions, public relations efforts, and marketing initiatives, including social media and website updates.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all patrons.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Preferred
- 1-3 years Experience in retail supervision, preferable in hospital gift shop. Preferred
- 1-3 years Experience working with volunteers, visual display and merchandising and marketing / public relations. Preferred
- POS and Accounting & Inventory systems and practices
- Microsoft Office Knowledge
- Merchandise buying procedures and product market values
- Administrative procedures, personnel volunteer mangement and supervisor techniques
