The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for managing the full cycle recruiting activities that enable the successful execution of GreatAmerica’s overarching talent strategy. This role serves as an ambassador of GreatAmerica’s culture and employer brand, generating interest of the qualified candidates for open or future roles. By creating and maintaining a robust talent pipeline, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will work to ensure GreatAmerica can secure the talent needed to deliver on our commitments and scale the organization effectively.
As a Talent Acquistion Specialist, you will:
- Fill open roles with desirable talent by executing upon on GreatAmerica’s talent strategy, exercising judgement and skill in providing accurate feedback on candidates and counsel to hiring leaders

Execute full cycle recruiting activities for assigned roles, which includes the following:
- Partnering with leaders and HRBP(s) to align on ideal candidate profiles
- Prepare and update position descriptions, documenting the specific talents required for success in each role
- Create and maintain high quality candidate pipelines for various roles
- Screen resumes
- Facilitate interviews
- Create offer letters
- Negotiate offers
- Ensure smooth transfer of applicable information to enable onboarding activities
- Proactively understand the competitive environment for talent and recommend strategies that create solutions that enable the acquisition of a high performing workforce
- Create and maintain strong relationships with leaders across the organization, providing sound advice and counsel
- Assist with workforce planning activities, providing strategic advice and direction on sourcing and hiring initiatives
- Follow GreatAmerica’s established talent acquisition policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
- Collect, interpret, and recommend/take action from talent acquisition data
- Ensure accurate and up to date candidate and pipeline data/statuses in HRIS

Collaborate and partner with Marketing to maintain GreatAmerica’s employer brand and support implementation of efforts designed to enhance our brand awareness to targeted candidates, college institutions, or community groups
- Monitor ROI on external activities and adjust accordingly to ensure desired outcomes are achieved
- Participate in speaking events, career fairs, or other external connection points to strategically enhance the visibility of GreatAmerica and network with potential candidates
- Invest in knowledge of evolving technology, processes, practices, or skills needed to recruit and assess talent effectively
- Maintain a solid working understanding of aspects of Human Resources and business acumen (compliance, compensation, legal etc.) to ensure best practice and process are adhered to throughout our hiring and onboarding processes
- When engaged, effectively manage relationships with third party recruiting agencies through strong communication and adherence to GreatAmerica hiring processes and standards
- Serve as an HRIS power user
- Maintain knowledge of and provide backup support to other HR Functions as requested
- Performs other duties as assigned
To be successful in this role you will need:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing or related field
Experience
- 5 years of recruiting experience required
- 2-4 years of sourcing experience required
- Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems preferred
- Experience in Human Resources is a plus
- Proven ability to establish and build relationships is required
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated mastery of Boolean and open web sourcing techniques
- Strong knowledge of current trends, innovations, and best practices within talent acquisition as well as with traditional sourcing techniques
- Balance multiple demands, shifting priorities and changing business conditions

Computer Skills
- PC platforms and use of Microsoft Office software; capability to utilize resources for HR needs
Other Requirements
- An existing strong personal network in the greater Cedar Rapids area is highly desired
- Human resource generalist experience is also a plus
- Maintains regular attendance during business hours with minimal absences per GreatAmerica’s attendance policy
- Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as assigned or required
