Job Title: Manager, Finance

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Greater Akron Chamber (GAC) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and can effectively manage multiple responsibilities related to financial tracking, reporting, and analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Finance & Accounting Support
In this role, the Manager, Finance will support financial reporting by preparing regular summaries and assisting with audits. They will track and input accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate data entry. The Manager will also support reporting for grant financials, including restricted fund allocations and compliance requirements. Additionally, they will prepare and analyze accounts receivable and payables to ensure timely payments and reconciliations. This role will support the preparation of documentation for audit and risk reviews.
General Administration
The Manager will provide general administrative support for finance committee preparation, including compiling reports or materials as requested. They will collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather relevant financial data and documentation.
Grant Support
The Manager, Finance, will document and report grant expenses and compliance, perform matching analysis, and ensure the underlying grant budgets are aligned. They will support program managers in tracking grant reporting deadlines for federal and local grants.
Additional Duties as Assigned
Have the flexibility to assist in various capacities to advance the organization’s efforts to raise awareness, visibility and engagement in the Chamber’s work.
PERFERED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Three or more years in bookkeeping, or finance, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, and Microsoft Products.
- Knowledge of nonprofit grant accounting and invoicing processes is a plus.
- The candidate should possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, the ability to manage time effectively, and work independently.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally moves office materials and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the office.
- Must be available to work occasional off-hours.
- Must be available during standard business hours.
- While this position is based in the GAC’s main office location in Akron, OH, many aspects of this role may be fulfilled through periodic telecommuting as determined appropriate and in conjunction with project supervision.
