The mission of Greater Atlanta Christian School is to help each student grow as Jesus did, in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging individual that will be responsible for teaching the English curriculum in grades 9-12.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of the content matter.
• Establish, communicate, and demand high expectations for student learning, and quality of work
• Use a multitude of instructional strategies and activities that are academically rigorous and highly engaging.
• Communicate with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress as outlined by GAC administration.
• Work collaboratively within the PK12 English Professional Learning Community (PLC) to create and maintain alignment across grade levels and courses.
• Actively engage in common planning meetings to create common learning and assessment experiences for all students.
• Work diligently to create and implement a learning environment and experience for all students.
• Track and analyze student data to identify student learning needs and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
• Plan and implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with the principal and other teachers to develop and revise curriculum based on assessment data; share best practices.
• Maintain an efficient, respectful and positive tone in the classroom.
• Utilize the time to maximize student learning and actively engage students.
• Ensure that all students are on task at all times during a lesson.
• Clearly enforce and emphasize school rules, values, and expectations.
• Build relationships with students that demonstrate an open concern and a sense of responsibility for students’ academic and personal growth.
• Supervise students during lunch, transition periods, and other times as assigned.
• Actively participate in professional development activities.
• Support the mission, vision, and core values of Greater Atlanta Christian School.
• Serve as sponsors of student organizations and participate in campus and community events.
• Perform other related work as needed.

Education And Experience

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited college is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

• Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices.
• Ability to embrace innovation as a tool to teach, engage, and motivate students.
• Knowledge of student cognitive development and various learning styles.
• Share GAC’s commitment to differentiated learning and exhibit comprehension of 21st Century learning skills, concepts and tools.
• Strong technology skills.
