Essential Functions
Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and motor skills development.
- Develop and maintain a well-rounded PE curriculum.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students are engaged and challenged.
- Organize and lead various individual, team, and group sports activities.
- Integrate Christian principles into physical education classes by modeling Christ-like behaviors such as kindness, encouragement, and fairness.
- Foster an environment where students can develop their physical abilities and character while reinforcing the importance of honoring God through health and fitness.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment, using Christian-based discipline techniques when necessary.
- Encourage teamwork, good sportsmanship, and a sense of responsibility in students.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote personal growth and improvement.
- Promote the importance of lifelong physical activity and healthy habits.
- Incorporate basic health education, including nutrition, exercise, and wellness topics into physical education lessons.
- Organize and participate in school-wide fitness activities and events, such as fun runs, field days, and other extracurricular fitness initiatives.
- Work closely with classroom teachers, administration, and parents to ensure that the PE program aligns with the school’s academic goals and values.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Provide regular updates to parents about their child's progress and achievements in physical education.
- Ensure the safety of all students during physical activities, including proper equipment usage and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Oversee the maintenance and organization of PE equipment, ensuring it is in good condition and ready for use.
- Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of GAC
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited college is required; a master's degree is preferred
- Experience teaching physical education to elementary-aged students, preferably in a Christian school setting
- Strong understanding of child development, physical fitness principles, and age-appropriate activities
- A passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and inspiring students to lead physically active lives.
