Essential Functions
- Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of the content matter.
- Establish, communicate, and demand high expectations for student learning, and quality of work
- Use a multitude of instructional strategies and activities that are academically rigorous and highly engaging.
- Communicate with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress as outlined by GAC administration.
- Work collaboratively within the PK12 English Professional Learning Community (PLC) to create and maintain alignment across grade levels and courses.
- Actively engage in common planning meetings to create common learning and assessment experiences for all students.
- Work diligently to create and implement a learning environment and experience for all students.
- Track and analyze student data to identify student learning needs and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
- Plan and implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the principal and other teachers to develop and revise curriculum based on assessment data; share best practices.
- Maintain an efficient, respectful and positive tone in the classroom.
- Utilize the time to maximize student learning and actively engage students.
- Ensure that all students are on task at all times during a lesson.
- Clearly enforce and emphasize school rules, values, and expectations.
- Build relationships with students that demonstrate an open concern and a sense of responsibility for students’ academic and personal growth.
- Supervise students during lunch, transition periods, and other times as assigned.
- Actively participate in professional development activities.
- Serve as sponsors of student organizations and participate in campus and community events.
- Perform other related work as needed.
- Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of GAC
- Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited college is required; a master’s degree is preferred
